New Delhi: Even as efforts to extradite Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi from Argentina continue, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is trying to strengthen its case back home.
The CBI, on Wednesday, filed a detailed status report in Tis Hazari Court regarding non-bailable warrant of Quattrocchi, who is allegedly the prime beneficiary in the Rs 64 crore Bofors arms deal.
Filing the report in the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini, the CBI stated that extradition proceedings were going on expeditiously. It also filed before the Court how Quattrocchi was arrested and got bail in a case in Argentina.
The agency demanded one months' time for producing him because the extradition process is still underway.
In wake of the criticism by Opposition parties, the CBI armed itself with a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Quattrocchi on February 27.
Quattrocchi was taken into custody by the Argentina Police following an Interpol red-corner notice in his name, which has been pending for the last 11 years.
