CHENNAI: After its operations in the entertainment sector, Opposition DMDK backed Captain Media is all set to launch its 24 hour news channel, 'Captain News,' with the channel officially set to go on air from January 14, 2012, coinciding with the Pongal festival season."Captain News channel Test run will start from January 1, 2012 and the official launch will be on January 14," a party release here said.Captain Media Pvt Ltd, backed by DMDK founder and Opposition Leader in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Vijayakant, already manages Captain TV, which has a mix of entertainment and news programmes.
