New Delhi: The 'Twilight' films catapulted Robert Pattinson to heartthrob status in Hollywood and the actor says he can't do away with the image the vampire franchise has given him.
Although Pattinson has tried his hand at different kinds of films such as 'Little Ashes', 'Bel Ami' and 'Cosmopolis', it is the Twilight films he is most known for. "I haven't done anything with a conscious decision. I did what just came my way. And the image that Twilight has given me will definitely stay for a while, so I can't do away with it," Pattinson told PTI in an email interview.
The 26-year-old actor, who is gearing up for the release of the final film - 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' next month, says he is happy that the franchise is now finally over.
"It was a chunk of my life and I feel happy and relaxed that the Twilight series is now over," he said. Pattinson agrees that as the franchise progressed the focus of media and the public shifted from the films to other things associated with it.
"Yes, the media and the public are now interested in every aspect of the movie and everybody associated with it. As the movie progressed apart from the lead character all the cast started gaining more and more popularity," he said.
The final part will have the entire starcast - including Pattinson's on and off screen love interest Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner - come together as a team for one last time. "It was really exciting to get together for one last time to complete something which we have been doing for the last four years. We had lots of fun there and best of parties too."
Pattinson says he had a hard time filming this one as it had extensive action sequences. "This one was hard. I mean, we were shooting this big action sequence for about two and a half months in a massive warehouse where they normally sell cows, with a bunch of fake paper snow and green walls, and you literally started to go insane after a while! Yeah, it gets tough doing stuff like that, it gets a bit repetitive."
Since this is the ultimate film, Twi-hards are waiting for its release with bated breath. The actor is finding it hard to cope with the pressure. "After the shooting got over I have been very relaxed. But as the day is approaching the promotional activities are really keeping us busy," Pattinson said.
The films are adapted from the four books written by Stephenie Meyer and the final instalment was split into two parts for the onscreen version. 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' is set to release in the US on November 16 and a week later in India.
