New Delhi: Ronaldinho is the best footballer in the world. He destroys the best defence with his sublime skills. And he's the masthead of the best team in the world.
But the humble or may be superstitious Ronaldinho doesn't think five-time World Champions Brazil are the favourites for World Cup 2006.
Circa 2002, when Brazil won the World Cup, it was the three R’s, golden-boot winner Ronaldo, stylish Rivaldo and Ronaldinho who grabbed the World Cup headlines.
But very soon Ronaldinho became the best in the game. He has come a long way since he started playing for futsal (indoor football) as a child prodigy.
Ronaldinho is not only the main man in the Brazil team but has also become the finest player in the world. He has been awarded the FIFA Player of the Year Award for two consecutive years.
Ronaldinho has cultivated his brilliance to make football the beautiful Game it once was. "Brazil had always tried and played beautiful football. We've got a style of play and we never change. Everyone considers us the favourites as we've players with plenty of experience," says Ronaldinho.
"I haven't got any favourites in football. Before the World Cup, there are no favourites. We live in the moment. We always play our best for the team. So once the tournament starts, we'll have a better idea,” adds the soccer star.
And despite the heavy schedule in the Spanish league with Barcelona, he produces his brilliance week in and week out, and does so with a smile. Fatigue is isn’t quite for him. He enjoys his game, playing for the love of it. Ronaldinho lives his dream.
That means bad news for the other 31 teams who'll be trying to snatch Brazil's crown at Germany. And with the likes of Robinho, Kaka, Juninho and Baptista likely to give him company at this year's World Cup, Brazil look to be the clear favourites.
