Eight-year-old Prince Rajendra Kumar Jain, son of a marble businessman was kidnapped by uncle Vishal Puran Jain (19) and his friend Krishnakumar Guruswamy Naidu (15), on Thursday from his residence. He was kept in captivity for two days in a Dombivali godown, police said.
The minor, a Class II student, who was rescued on Sunday, was lured by the duo, who offered him chocolates and later took the boy to an isolated place, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Prashant Burde told newsmen on Sunday evening.
Two days later, the accused, who wanted to open a cyber cafe from the money, made nearly a dozen ransom calls on Saturday to boy's father Rajkumar Jain, he said.
When Rajkumar said that he wanted to hear his son's voice, the recorded voice of Prince, who parroted the ransom demand by the culprits was played to him, police said.
The final call came after midnight in the early hours of Sunday after which both the parties decided to meet near Dwarka hotel to collect the money bag, they said.
Policemen, who were keeping a vigil near the hotel, pinned down Naidu, who came to collect the ransom, Burde said. Naidu then led the cops to the hideout and Prince was rescued, the police official said.
