CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday appreciated the presence of mind displayed by two partymen hailing from Alampatti village near Madurai by informing the police about the pipe bomb kept under a causeway through which senior BJP leader LK Advani was to pass.M Selvaraj, an AIADMK cadre, found the pipe bomb and immediately informed the police through P Selvam, AIADMK councillor of 14th ward of Thirumangalam panchayat union. Following this, police personnel visited the spot and defused the bomb, thus averting loss of many lives.The AIADMK general secretary invited both Selvaraj and Selvam to her residence on Monday and presented a cash award of `50,000 to each of them in appreciation of their timely action. Selvaraj and Selvam thanked her for her gesture.
