BJP, on Sunday, slammed Bihar government for not lodging FIR against Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, despite the fact that the dreaded terrorist was running a terror network in the state nor questioning him when he was finally apprehended last week.
"It begs for explanation as to why the JD(U) government did not book Bhatkal under relevant provisions of the law for running terror network in Bihar nor questioning him when he was finally arrested from Raxaul near Indo-Nepal border last week," the state unit BJP spokesperson Vinodanand Jha said in a statement.
"It is an insult to the people of Bihar that their government has handed over Bhatkal to the NIA without quizzing him for training hundreds of IM operatives during his prolonged stay in the state till recently," he said.
Jha also took on the JD(U) leaders' for seeking an apology from the former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on his remarks taunting the ruling party to treat Bhatkal as the "son in-law" of Bihar and said that the ruling party owed an apology to the people for mixing terror with politics by describing the Gujarat encounter victim Ishrat Jahan as the "daughter" of the state.
