BJP on Monday dismissed the charges and counter-charges being traded by the DMK and AIADMK on the issue of Karseva as only "rhetoric."
"I don't understand..there is no serious issue in it.... it is only rhetoric," P Muralidhar Rao, BJP National General Secretary and in charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu told reporters here.
DMK has been accusing the ruling AIADMK of "sending men and materials" for the 1991 Karseva in Ayodhya which has been strongly refuted by ruling party general secretary and Chief Minsiter J Jayalalithaa.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister wondered why DMK had aligned with BJP in 1999 which supported the kar seva and sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya. "If DMK chief Karunanidhi was really opposed to kar seva, why was his party part of the then NDA government?" she had asked.
Asked if his party would target the alleged shortcomings of the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu, Rao ducked the query and said "let us not get sidelined..the focus is on the misrule of the UPA."
Stating that the NDA campaign would be aggressive, he said the alliance would reach out to the entire electorate of Tamil Nadu. To support this effort, a co-ordination panel of alliance partners has been set up.
"In all 39 constituencies there will be a panel with representatives of all parties and programmes will be planned either together or independently."
He said all national leaders of BJP, including Modi and Advani would address poll rallies in Tamil Nadu.
Rao expressed hope that the NDA would win a majority of seats in Tamil Nadu and said candidates for Thanjavur and Vellore would be announced shortly.
