Punjab police have arrested a militant for conspiring to assassinate former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.
Amritsar: With the arrest of a militant, the Punjab Police on Saturday claim to have foiled an attempt to assassinate former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.
Police have also recovered arms and ammunition from Amarjit Singh.
SSP R P S Brar said that Amarjit Singh had been arrested once before in 2003.
The police are yet to ascertain why Amarjit Singh wanted to assassinate Bhajan Lal.
An FIR has also been lodged against Amarjit Singh in Haryana in the case of a conspiracy to assassinate Bhajan Lal, he said.
