Baghdatis leaps up in ATP rankings
Federer won his third straight Grand Slam title and consolidated his place atop the rankings with Spain's Rafael Nadal.

Paris: Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis has moved up 27 places in the latest ATP world rankings to stand at 27th.

The Cypriot lost in four sets to world No 1 Roger Federer in Sunday's final in Melbourne after beating three top 10 players on the way.

Federer won his third straight Grand Slam title and consolidated his place atop the rankings with Spain's Rafael Nadal, who did not play in Australia due to injury, in second place.

Former world No 1 Lleyton Hewitt of Australia fell out of the top 10, while last year's winner in Melbourne, Marat Safin, is down to 50th as he tries to recover after a knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines for several months.
