‘Pran Pratistha’ rituals of Ram Lalla in the run-up to much awaited ceremony on January 22 at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir began from Tuesday.
While providing details about the consecration ceremony on Monday, the secretary general of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai mentioned that all preparations for the event have been completed.
The Pran Pratishtha will commence at 12:20 pm, as per the ‘muhurat’ determined by Varanasi’s revered priest, Ganeshwar Shastri.
The Prayaschita and Karmakuti Poojan was scheduled for January 16, following which a series of events has been lined up for the upcoming days till January 22.

Details of Protocols Followed in Rituals
There are usually Seven Adhivasas in Prana Pratistha ceremony, and a minimum of three Adhivasas are in practice. Arounf 121 Acharyas will be conducting the rituals and Shri Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid Ji will oversee, coordinate, anchor and direct all the proceedings of the Anushthan. The principal Acharya will be Kashi’s Shri Luckshmikant Dixit.
Inclusive Traditions Undertaken for the Ceremony
The traditions to be followed include Shaiva, Vaishnav, Shaakta, Ganapatya, Patya, Sikh, Bauddha, Jain, Dashnam, Shankar, Ramanand, Ramanuj, Nimbarka, Madhva, Vishnu Nami, Ramsanehi, Ghisapanth, Garibdasi, Gaudiya, Kabirpanthi, Valmiki, Shankardev (Assam), Madhav Dev, ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, Chinmaya Mission, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Gayatri Parivar, Anukul Chandra, Thakur Parampara, Mahima Samaj of Odisha, Akali, Nirankari, Namdhari from Punjab, Radhasoami, and Swaminarayan, Varkari, Veer Shaiva, etc.
Rituals to Be Followed for Ram Lalla’s Idol
While addressing a press conference, Rai revealed that the statue which is to be consecrated is made of stone, with an estimated weight ranging between 150 to 200 kg. He further said that the statue represents the form of a 5-year-old boy and is intended to be installed in a standing position.
The secretary general of the temple trust explained that the consecrated idol undergoes a process known as ‘Adhivas’ in the worship system, wherein various forms of residence are created for the idol. These include residence in water, food, fruits, medicine, ghee, bed, and fragrance. This is a very difficult process. Rai emphasized that the procedure will be carried out in accordance with the guidance of religious leaders, acknowledging the complexity and importance of the ritual.
