Australia thrash India 4-0 in the first hockey Test
India went down to Australia 0-4 in the first match of the four-match Test series in Perth on Tuesday.

Both the teams started with aggressive attacks since the first minute and challenged each other's defence line.

However, it was Australia who earned a penalty corner in the 15th minute and forward Jeremy Hayward successfully converted it into the first goal of the match, taking the lead of 1-0.

The 2nd quarter also saw a fierce battle between India and Australia as both the teams fought neck-to-neck to score. India managed to create few opportunities but failed to materialise those chances into goals. In the 30th minute, Australian forward Jacob Whetton sneaked into the Indian defence-line and scored their second goal to take the scorecard to 2-0.

Trailing by 0-2, India aggressively attacked in the Australian half in the 3rd quarter. However, Australia counter attacked on the Indian side and scored third goal in 34th minute with the help of Jeremy Edwards. In the 39th minute, midfielder Glenn Simpson successfully converted the penalty corner, taking the lead to 4-0.

The second match of the series will be played on 5 November.
