New Delhi: Eight Somali pirates who were arrested by the UK navy will be brought to book at a Kenyan court on Wednesday.
Forces on board British ship HMS Cumberland captured these pirates a week ago in a counter-piracy operation off the Somalian coast.
The British Navy also seized their firearms including AK 47s and missile launchers. Later these pirates were handed over to the Kenyan police.
However, Somali pirates have seized another ship, a Greek bulk carrier, the East African Seafarers' Assistance Programme said on Wednesday, saying the Greek ship was taken on Tuesday in the Gulf of Aden.
It's the second ship seized since what's being called the largest hijack in history -- the capture of a Saudi supertanker on the weekend.
Reports suggest the Saudi supertanker, the Sirius Star, has reached the coast of Somalia.
The ship is carrying over $100 mn dollars worth of oil.
A minister of the Autonomous Somalian region of Puntland has apologised for the increasing piracy, but said that it was also caused by the failure of international forces.
Deputy minister, Abdul-Kadir Muse Yusuf says, "We also are very sorry the increase of piracy attacks off Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean. Now as you know the problem is not pirates, the problem is international marine force that can not do their job properly."
