BHUBANESWAR: The students of the College of Forestry under the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology took out a rally here on Wednesday demanding 50 per cent reservation in range officers’ posts in the Forest department for B.Sc. Forestry degree holders. They then conducted a mock funeral of an agitating student reminding the Government to fulfil their demands by May 15. Around 70 students took out the rally from Master Canteen Square to PMG Road. The rally concluded near the PMG Road where they performed the symbolic funeral rite of the agitating student. The rally was organised by the students as a warning to the State Government not to ignore their demands. “We know that the file has been lying dormant in the Forestry department for quite some time and nothing is being done. And if we call off the strike now, they might not fulfil our demands, like it happened the last time,” said an agitating student. “The symbolic funeral is a warning to the State Government that if they do not act on our demands soon, we do not know what will happen on May 15,” said an agitating student.
