Four more children succumbed to encephalitis at the BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur, taking the death toll in the disease in eastern Uttar Pradesh to 202 this year.
The deceased belonged to Gorakhpur, Mahrajganj, Kushinagar and Bihar, health officials said on Wednesday. As many as 14 persons suffering from encephalitis have been admitted to the hospital since Tuesday, they said adding that a total of 137 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
