HYDERABAD: Police resorted to lathicharge and arrested as many as 200 employees of Sanghi Polyesters company, when they were staging a dharna in front of company office demanding release of their pending salaries. Later, they were shifted to Hayat Nagar police station.Meanwhile, a few banks which provided Rs 2,000 crore loan to the company, assessed the property for auction.According to police, as many as 350 employees had been working before the company shut down three years ago. A few employees, are still working since the company closed. The management stopped paying salaries for the last 14 months and management also failed to repay loans, police said.Around 10.30 a.m. on Saturday, armed with court orders to seize and assess the assets available at Sanghi Polyesters Pvt Ltd, Omarkhanguda within Hayat Nagar police station limits, as many as 13 banks went there with police assistance, said police inspector, G Srinivas Kumar.As bank officials reached spot, employees affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions asked bank officials and management to release salaries due. When officials ignored them and were entering the office, employees tried to prevent them.As per banks’ request, policemen had been deployed in and around premises as company’s employees were in an agitated mood. “When employees tried to restrain officials, we arrested nearly 200 workers and booked cases against them under section 151 CrPC, police said.Meanwhile, CPI party state secretary, K Narayana demanded that government declare management of Sanghi Polyester Company an economic offender and arrest all of them.Narayana alleged that management had cheated as many as 18 banks by taking more than 2,000 crore as loans.He demanded the government immediately seize properties and passports of all those in the management. He said that the management is yet to pay Rs 30 crore to its employees and demanded the it take stringent action against them and do justice.
