2 generators closed after spark at Moolamattom

KOCHI: The operation of the first and second generators of the KSEB Moolamattom Power House was stopped following an electric spark in the first generator on Sunday night.  The functioning of the first generator tripped and sparking continued from it thereafter.As a precautionary measure, KSEB officials immediately stopped the operation of both the first and the second generators.Officials said that they have taken all necessary steps to avert any kind of accident. “First and second generators jointly produce around 500 MW of electricity. The generators will start functioning from Monday morning. At present, four generators at the plant are functioning,” an official added.
