How to Turn Off the USB Connect Sound
Disable Device Connect and Device Disconnect sounds in your Settings. Windows computers automatically have “event sounds” for specific notifications, including connecting and disconnecting a USB device. Open the Control Panel from your Start menu. Select Hardware and Sound. Click on the Sound heading. Choose the Sounds tab at the top of the new window. Find Device Connect in the Program Events menu. Open the Sounds dropdown and select (None) from the top of the list Select Device Disconnect and set the sound to (None) as well. Click Apply and then OK to save your settings.

When a USB driver is outdated or starts acting buggy, it may cause an error that plays the USB connect/disconnect noise. How to Fix: Update the drivers using the Windows Device Manager. Open the Device Manager program from your Start menu. Scroll until you find Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand the dropdown. Look for a USB device that disappears and reappears. Right-click on the device and select Update driver. Select Search automatically to find the most recent driver update to install.
The USB Selective Suspend feature is buggy. The USB Selective Suspend feature reduces the amount of power to your USB drive when it’s not in use. If the feature isn’t working properly or if it reduces the power to low, it may cause your computer to think the device is disconnected. How to Fix: Disable the USB Selective suspend feature from your computer’s power settings. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu. Select Hardware and Sound. Choose Power Options. Click on Change plan settings under the Preferred plans heading. Select Change advanced power settings. Expand the USB Settings and USB selective suspend setting menus. Select Disabled from the dropdown menu. Click Apply and OK to confirm your settings.
