How to Create Homemade Natural Skincare Products
You don’t have to pay big bucks at the dermatologist for treatments, when you have the secrets to great skin in your own home. Use different treatments to achieve a variety of skincare goals. These treatments are ideal to use on skin types too.
Steps

Brighten Skin

Remove makeup and wash your face with mild soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel.

Cut a piece of ripe papaya and remove the seeds and the pulp (which you can save for later as a snack).

Rub the papaya slice over your face and skin, concentrating on any wrinkles or lines.

Allow papaya to dry for up to 20 minutes on the skin and then rinse with warm water. According to Louisa Macan-Graves, author of Hollywood Beauty Secrets: Remedies to the Rescue, “The enzymes in papaya exfoliate, repair sun damage, diminish age spots and smooth skin. Your skin will look brighter, with a more polished finish.”

Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells

Mix 1 tsp. of honey with 1 tsp. of olive oil. You can use any type of olive oil (virgin, extra virgin, etc.).

Create an oatmeal mask in a separate bowl by pouring one packet of instant oatmeal (plain) into a bowl and adding hot water. However, add less water than recommended because you want to create a paste.

Pour honey and olive oil mixture into the oatmeal paste. Mix well until fully combined.

Apply oatmeal “scrub” to face with clean fingertips, working along the face in a circular motion.

Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

Cleanse Pores

Combine 1 tbsp. of plain Greek yogurt with 2 tsp. olive oil and ½ tsp. lemon oil (not lemon juice, lemon oil is an essential oil sold at health food stores).

Massage mixture over the skin with clean hands or a washcloth.

Remove mixture immediately with a washcloth that has been soaked in warm, tepid water.

Lift and Tighten Loose Skin

Mix 2 tbsp. of plain yogurt with 1 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice (consider squeezing the juice from an actual lemon rather than using bottled lemon juice).

Apply yogurt/lemon juice combination to clean face with clean fingertips.

Allow mask to remain on your face for up to 30 minutes. You will feel your skin begin to tighten and tingle as the mask dries.

Leave mask on face for 30 to 60 minutes--leave on longer for more firming.

Rinse mask with tepid water, followed by splashing the face with cool water.

Tone Dull Skin

Remove makeup and clean skin with a mild face soap. Rinse and pat dry with a clean towel.

Brew a cup of green or chamomile tea and allow the tea to cool. Remove tea bag once tea looks very strong.

Submerge two clean, round make up sponges in the tea and squeeze out any liquid into the cup.

Place one sponge on each eye and relax for 15 minutes. Pat eyes dry with a clean towel when finished.

Soothe Damaged Skin

Mix 2 tbsp. honey with 1 tbsp. apple cider or lemon juice. Use a whisk to ensure the combine the mixture well.

Apply to clean face and allow it to remain for up to 20 minutes.

Rinse well with tepid water and pat skin dry. This can be repeated up to three times per week.

Moisturize Dry Skin

Grind 1 tbsp. of oatmeal in either a coffee grinder or blender and set aside.

Bring 1/2 cup of water to a rolling boil and add 1 tbsp. of fennel seeds. Allow seeds to steep for 10 minutes and then strain and discard seeds.

Allow fennel tea to cool to room temperature. You will be using this liquid on your face so make sure it is not hot.

Combine 1 tbsp. of fennel tea with 1 tbsp. ground oatmeal and 1 tbsp. of honey.

Apply mixture to your face and allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water and pat dry.

Brighten and Invigorate Lifeless Skin

Mix 2 tbsp. sour cream with 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice). Mix well and possibly use a whisk to combine.

Apply to clean skin and allow to sit for up to 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. Pat skin dry.
