Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to guide Portugal to a resounding 3-0 win against Republic of Ireland at the Aveiro Municipal Stadium last night. Ronaldo’s genius on the field was enough to enthrall the fans. But Ronaldo’s brilliance was not limited to his on-field prowess. The Portuguese legend came up with an adorable gesture right before the game to win the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.
Ronaldo took the initiative to guide a young mascot onto the pitch. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star helped the mascot, who has reportedly been suffering from cerebral palsy, and gently pushed her as she was seated in a wheelchair. In another video, Ronaldo can be seen holding the young girl’s hand during Portugal’s national anthem. The moving act struck a chord with fans and viewers and melted many hearts on social media.

The Portuguese football team could not have asked for a better way to sign off in their last warm-up game ahead of their Euro 2024 opening fixture against the Czech Republic, scheduled to be played on June 18. At the Euro 2024, Portugal have been pooled in Group F along with Turkey, the Czech Republic and Georgia.
