The Bar Council of India announced that the Certificate of Practice (COP) for the 18th All India Bar Examination (AIBE) has been dispatched to all the State Bar Councils. Candidates who qualified the AIBE XVIII exam must collect their certificates from their respective bar councils soon. However, the certificates for the Karnataka State Bar Council will be issued later through a separate notification.
As per the official notification, For any queries or assistance regarding the certificate collection process, kindly contact your respective State Bar Councils directly. Please note that the COP for candidates to the Karnataka State Bar Council will be issued soon. A separate notice will be released once they are available.”
Obtaining the Certificate of Practice is a key certification for candidates to practice as advocates across Indian courts. The AIBE is a mandatory examination for law graduates in India, designed to assess their capability to practice law.
Documents Required While Applying For Certificate of Practice
To apply for the Certificate of Practice (COP) after passing the AIBE, candidates must submit the following documents:

–– Academic Qualification documents
–– Caste certificate (For SC/ST aspirants)
–– Three Passport size photographs
–– Declaration
–– Other documents as mentioned in the application form
–– Additionally, the application fee varies for every state bar council and is subject to change every year.
This year, seven questions from the exam were dropped and the final results were calculated using 93 questions instead of 100. The passing marks for the General and OBC category students were 42 marks, while SC, ST, and disabled category students needed 37 marks.
The AIBE XVIII was administered on December 10 last year. The provisional answer key for the same was released on December 13 and the aspirants were allowed to raise objections until midnight on December 20. The final answer key for the AIBE XVIII exam was issued on March 21
