Dhoni was batted five times thus far this season and is yet to be dismissed.

This is the second match in a row that the 42-year-old has led the late flourish for CSK having earlier smashed 20 off just four deliveries against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium last Sunday.

IPL 2023 was expected to be the final as a player for Dhoni but after CSK won the title, Thala confirmed that he’s going to return for another season.

During his innings against LSG on Friday, Dhoni also completed the milestone of 5,000 runs in IPL when playing as a wicketkeeper.

Ahead of the start of IPL 2024. Dhoni stepped away from CSK captaincy with Ruturaj Gaikwad taking over the reins. The decision brought an end to a successfull era that saw Dhoni captain the franchise to five IPL titles – the joint most by any team in the competition’s history.
