‘Out Nahi The Aap’: Paparazzi To Virat Kohli After His Controversial Wicket Against KKR
'Out or no ball' is the question everybody has since the former RCB captain Virat Kohli was dismisssed on a full toss delivery by KKR pacer Harshit Rana on Sunday.

Virat Kohli controversial dismissal off a full toss during the RCB vs KKR at the Eden Gardens on Sunday has been the major talking point with the Umpire’s decision to uphold the call being criticised from various quarters and while the jury is still out for whether it was beamer – which should have been a no-ball – or just a low full toss, many do believe Kohli got the short end of the stick this time around.

The RCB batting maestro was off to a good start during his team’s chase in the 36th match of IPL 2024. He scored an early 7-ball 18 but was soon dismissed. Following the match, he was papped at the airport. Kohli was seen in a casual fit of white t-shirt and light blue jeans, as he walked towards his car. In a video clip that sis going viral paparazzi present at the airport shouted, “Virat sir out nahi they aap [Virat sir you weren’t out]”.

Kohli’s dismissal came in the first ball of the third over during the RCB’s chase of a mammoth 222-run total. Harshit Rana bowled a full toss that Kohli, standing outside the crease, made contact with Rana took the return catch. The original decision of out was challenged for a reviewed by RCB.

After the DRS-check, the third umpire came to the conclusion that Kohli had left his crease to move slightly ahead on the pitch and since the ball was gradually dipping, it would have been on par with his waist’s height if the batter stayed on the line.

While the technology made the call for Kohli’s dismissal, the decision did not sit well with the former Bengaluru skipper who confronted the umpire. The wicket also proved crucial as Bengaluru went on to lose the game by just a single run.

Kohli’s wicket at the Eden Gardens yesterday wasn’t the only controversial decision in the game. In the second ball of the match’s final over, Mitchell Starc bowled a classic outside off that seemed to have gotten a faint edge of Karn Sharma’s bat.

Following a third umpire review, it was revealed that there was indeed a small contact. The umpire then checked for Phil Salt’s catch from the front angle, where the ball looked like it touched the ground. A second angle for the same catch didn’t reveal much leading to a not-out decision. Salt was visibly upset with the decision and approached the umpire about making the call based on just a single camera angle.

Despite all the drama, the Kolkata Knight Riders were eventually able to seal their fifth victory of the season. Mitchell Starc dismissed Karn Sharma in the second last ball of regulation to curb Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s chances at victory. With a sixth straight loss and a seventh overall, it is quite unlikely that the three-time IPL finalists will be making the playoff stage this season.
