Not Rahul Dravid! Kuldeep Yadav Dedicates India's T20 World Cup 2024 Title Win To 37-Year-Old Star
Kuldeep Yadav played a big role in helping India end the 11-year wait for an ICC title by picking up 10 wickets in five matches of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Star Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who played a big role in helping India win the T20 World Cup 2024 by picking up 10 wickets in five matches, paid rich tribute to Indian captain Rohit Sharma by dedicating the title win to him. Rohit was the captain of the Indian team that won the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup. Under his leadership, India won all eight matches to become the first team in the tournament’s history to win the shortest format mega-event with a 100% win record.

The seven-run win in the final against South Africa on June 29 also helped Rohit become the first captain in history to win 50 T20Is.

Kuldeep was full of praise for Rohit for his captaincy and said that he led from the front with his aggressive batting.

“This World Cup was for him—the way he planned and the way he loved this team. The intent and approach that he used to talk about in team meetings, he implemented in the tournament while batting, led from the front. So this trophy is for him,” Kuldeep said on Aaj Tak.

The 29-year-old spinner, who warmed the bench in the USA leg of the T20 World Cup 2024, also praised Virat Kohli for his superb batting performance in the final against the Proteas when India lost three early wickets.

“There is probably no better feeling than this. In the final, Virat Bhai hit the 70-odd runs and won the player of the match. I am sure he will be very happy with his career in the T20 format; the same for Rohit Bhai. Jadeja as well; he played such brilliant cricket over the years,” Kuldeep said.

Kohli, who was struggling to score runs in the T20 World Cup 2024, was back at his usual best in the final on June 29 and scored 76 runs from 59 balls. For his super batting show in the most important match of the tournament, he won the Player of the Match award.

After becoming the second cricketer in the world to win all three ICC white-ball trophies, Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is.
