'New Era of Passion and Aggression Begins': Social Media Erupts as Gautam Gambhir is Appointed as Team India's Head Coach
Gautam Gambhir's appointment as the new Team India head coach has taken the cricketing fanbases by storm as they hope to see Indian cricket at the very top across all formats.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah announced that Gautam Gambhir is the new Head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. The former Indian opener will take over the role from Rahul Dravid who ended his tenure after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.

The former Indian leg-spinner, Anil Kumble congratulated his former teammate for taking the role as the head coach of the Indian team and wished Gambhir the very best in his new venture.

The official Instagram handle of the Kolkata Knight Riders where Gambhir went on to win the IPL title twice as a player and once as a mentor in 2024 shared a poster where Gambhir can be seen donning a suit with he BCCI logo on the chest.

The official handle of the Punjab Kings on X had also posted a creative image where it was captioned, “Gautam Gambhir, reporting for duty”. It is safe to say that regardless of rivalries, the franchises are certainly excited by the appointment of the former Indian opener.

The official handle on X of the Lucknow Super Giants where Gambhir mentored in the 2022 and 2023 seasons of the IPL also had a witty post which took inspiration from the popular football series, ‘Ted Lasso’ where there is a poster on a wall which says, “Believe”.

The Delhi Capitals’ official X handle also expressed their happiness in seeing their former skipper being appointed as the national team’s head coach with a post that was captioned, “News that got a smile, even on a Gambhir face.”

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru which might not have the greatest of memories with regards to Gautam Gambhir, but the franchise’s handle on X had congratulated the former Indian World Cup winner and wished him all the success for the future.

According to a release by the BCCI, Gambhir will begin his new role during the away series where the Indian team will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI and T20I series which begins on July 27, 2024.
