IPL 2024: 'Disappointed' Rishabh Pant Says 'Best Thing We Can Do is Learn' After DC Lose Again
Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant could not hide his disappointment after DC's second loss in two matches so far in IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant was a disappointed man after Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a 12-run loss at the hands of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.

The match is also the 100th IPL outing for skipper Rishabh Pant for Delhi Capitals, a side he’s been a part of since 2016, making him the first player from the franchise to reach this landmark in the IPL.

After the match, DC skipper Rishabh Pant could not hide his disappointment after their second loss in two matches so far in IPL 2024.

“Definitely disappointed. The best thing we can do from this is learn from it,” Pant said after the match.

Sent in to bat, Riyan Parag smashed a 45-ball 84 not out as he hit seven fours and six sixes on his way to his highest IPL score as RR recovered from 36/3 in the eighth over to post a challenging 185/5.

Parag added 54 with Ravichandran Ashwin, who smashed three sixes on way to a 19-ball 29. Parag also shared 52 runs with Dhruv Jurel (20) and another 43 with Shimron Hetmyer (14 not out).

“The bowlers did really well till 15-16 overs, batters sometimes go on at the death and score quickly, that happened in this game,” Pant said.

When Pant was asked if he should have turned to South African pacer Anrich Nortje much sooner rather than hold him back for the death overs, he said: There are other options, we wanted Nortje to bowl at the death and sometimes you can go for runs, hopefully, we can do better in the next match.”

In reply, opener David Warner made a 34-ball 49 but DC crumbled under pressure with the bowlers producing a clinical display.

Tristan Stubbs (44 not out) tried his bit but it was too little too late.

Pant praised his opening batters David Warner and Mitchell Marsh for a ‘good start’ but conceded that DC lost too many wickets in the middle overs.

“Marsh and Warner gave a good start, but we lost a few wickets in the middle overs and in the end, we had too many runs to cover up,” he said.

The result ensured the trend that all nine matches in the tournament so far, have been won by home teams.
