Tushar Deshpande got the new ball and on the very first ball, got the wicket of Phil Salt, who scored 54 against Sunrosers Hyderabad and then followed it up with 30 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and 18 against Delhi Capitals.

Tushar Deshpande, from over the wicket, bowled an outswinger on a fuller length and outside off. Phil Salt extended his arms and went for the big drive over the infield on the off side. He timed the ball well but didn’t get the desired elevation, chopping it at Ravindra Jadeja at backward point, who jumped up and took a good catch.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl against Kolkata Knight Riders in a home IPL game here on Monday. While KKR went with an unchanged eleven, CSK were forced to make three changes.

Pacer Mustafizur Rahman is back in place of Mukesh Choudhary while Deepak Chahar missed out due to a niggle. Out of favour India all-rounder Shardul Thakur is back in the mix along with lower-middle order power-hitter Sameer Rizvi.

After back-to-back wins at Chepauk, CSK lost to Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on the road to fourth place in the points table. Now on their return to home, they seek to get back to winning ways against second-placed KKR, who have won three matches in a row and are yet to lose a game in the competition.

CSK led 7-3 in the head-to-head record against KKR at Chepauk. But the last time these two teams met in Chennai last year, KKR won comfortably.
