Gautam Gambhir's Priceless Reaction as Suryakumar Hands Trophy to Mayank Yadav, Nitish Reddy: WATCH

Suryakumar Yadav’s Team India whitewashed Bangladesh in the T20I series with a comprehensive 133-run in the final fixture in Hyderabad on Saturday. Sanju Samson stood out with a scintillating hundred, his maiden in the shortest format, while the skipper also scored a blistering fifty before Hardik Pandya’s commendable cameo helped India post a colossal total of 297 runs. Later, the bowlers assembled to restrict Bangladesh to 164/7, sealing the series 3-0.

As the skipper collected the trophy, he handed it over to the two youngsters – Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy – who made their debut in this series. Delhi pacer Mayank picked up 4 wickets in three matches while Reddy scored his maiden fifty in the second fixture in New Delhi.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir also shared a photo of Suryakumar handing the trophy to Mayank and Nitish, penning a special message on the win.

“A tour de force,” Gambhir wrote on microblogging site X.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, named the Player of the Series for his impactful batting performances, credited head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Suryakumar Yadav for his impressive show.

“The kind of freedom skipper and coach have given is fantastic for the whole group. At the end of the day if you can enjoy the sport you can get the maximum out of yourself,” he said.

Suryakumar said the emphasis has been on creating a “selfless” team.

“(I) wanted to have selfless cricketers and want to be a selfless team, enjoy each other’s performances. That camaraderie is coming off,” he said.

“Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) said the same thing before the series that no one is bigger than the team, no matter you are on 49 or 99, you have to hit the ball out of the field. That’s what Sanju did,” Suryakumar added.
