'Focus on the Controllables': LSG's Yash Thakur Reveals Simple Advice From KL Rahul During GT Clash
Following his brilliant fifer, LSG's Yash Thakur revealed some of what KL Rahul's advice in the middle as the side went on to register their first win over the Gujarat Titans.

It was a memorable evening for Lucknow Super Giants’ Yash Thakur who starred with a five-wicket haul against the Gujarat Titans to seal the win for LSG by 33 runs at Lucknow. The pacer revealed some of what was told to him by the skipper, KL Rahul when in the middle.

The message Yash received was simple to believe in himself and keep the focus on things that can be controlled. He shared,” He said, ‘Don’t think much and keep faith in yourself’. He said we’ll only focus on the controllable and not waste time on external factors like what has happened to whom”.

The pacer from Vidarbha highlighted that he thrived under pressure and enjoyed taking the responsibility of winning games for his respective side. He added,” I don’t take the pressure of expectations as a concern. Rather I’m happy when people outside or my team expect me to win games. I enjoy this responsibility of winning games for the team”.

His variations were part of the plan to secure the wickets and it was suggested that Yash stick to his slower balls and bouncers to keep the batters unsettled and in the end it paid off for LSG.

He said, “We knew that the wicket was slow, so the plan that we discussed, we stuck to it. Even if we got hit for runs, we would stick to it (the plan). KL told us we would be successful”.

“The variations, the slower ones, the bouncers I used, I kept getting success,” added Thakur.

LSG have now had a fantastic start to the tournament and are currently third in the points table with six points in the four games they have played. Their only loss so far has come against the league leaders, Rajasthan Royals during their opening fixture of the season.

KL Rahul’s side will have their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 14. Both sides had good starts in the tournament and will be a crucial fixture for both teams to start building a gap between the teams below the table.
