'Buttler, Head Coach Matthew Mott are Vulnerable': Nasser Hussain's Stern Warning To England Ahead Of T20 World Cup Match vs Oman
Nasser Hussain feels that England captain Jos Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott are in a vulnerable situation ahead of the crucial games.

Former cricketer Nasser Hussain has sent a stern message to the English cricket team as the defending champions appear to be doubtful to reach the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Having been pooled in Group B along with arch-rivals Australia, the English team are yet to secure their maiden win in the competition. Their campaign opener against Scotland was washed out due to rain in Barbados. England took on Australia in the next game and suffered a 36-run defeat. England now must win the remaining two league fixtures by big margins to keep their hopes alive for the Super 8 round.

Nasser Hussain feels that England captain Jos Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott are in a vulnerable situation ahead of the crucial games. In his column for the Daily Mail, Hussain referred to England’s poor show in last year’s ODI World Cup, where they featured as the reigning champions. England managed only three wins in the tournament and were knocked out of the league stage.

“Make no mistake: Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott are vulnerable. You can absorb one poor World Cup, especially when you began as double world champions, but two letdowns would be trickier to explain away. It’s up to England to show what a good side they are,” the cricketer-turned-pundit wrote on Daily Mail.

Nasser Hussain further shared some suggestions about the squad selection. He advised that England should pick the playing eleven in the upcoming T20 World Cup matches based on the conditions rather than going with the same team.

“With their struggles at the 50-over World Cup in India fresh in the memory, I can see why the fans aren’t happy. But they must now avoid the mistake they made in India, and stop chasing their tails. Pick the best team for the conditions in front of you, not the one you should have picked for the game before,” the 56-year-old wrote in his column.

England will aim for a big win when they take on Oman in their next group-league fixture on June 14. Having notched three wins, Australia currently hold the top spot in Group B while Scotland are at second place having collected five points so far.
