Chennai: In line with the firm international trend, gold prices soared and recorded a significant rise in the bullion market on Saturday with standard gold (24ct)spurting Rs 230 per ten grams to close at a new high of Rs 9,685 and ornament gold (22 ct) by Rs 21 per gram to Rs 897.
Bar Silver also rallied by Rs 1,465 per kg to settle at Rs 20,785.
On April 20, standard gold had closed at Rs 9580 per 10 grams, ornament gold Rs 887 per gram and bar silver (per kg)
at Rs 21,820.
More hike likely As per the sources,gold prices influenced by international market are expected to touch Rs 10,000 per 10 gm by end of Deepawali season.
Investor interest in gold is also expected to remain strong, as currency-related buying off the erosion in the dollar is still underway.
