All time closing high for Sensex, Nifty
The market ended with smart gains. The Sensex ended up over 281 points. Technology, oil, auto, FMCG, capital goods, pharma and banking stocks gained.

New Delhi: The market ended with smart gains. The Sensex ended up over 281 points. The Nifty closed up over 92 points. Technology, oil, auto, FMCG, capital goods, pharma and banking stocks gained.

The Sensex closed at 11,821.57, up 281.89 points or 2.44 per cent. It touched an intraday high of 11,834.77 and an intraday low of 11,624.97.

The Nifty closed at 3518.10, up 92.95 points or 2.71 per cent. It touched an intraday high of 3521.95 and an intraday low of 3429.

The CNX Midcap ended up 61.40 points or 1.27 per cent at 4910.75. It touched an intraday high of 4925.55 and an intraday low of 4878.20.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed up 76.69 points or 1.12 per cent at 6,921.33. The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,543.74, up 71.33 points or 1.30 per cent.

The total market turnover recorded at Rs 53400.31 crore. The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 9178.71 crore. The BSE cash turnover was at Rs 4784.98 crore.

The market breadth was positive, about 1441 shares advanced, 1047 shares declined, and 68 shares remained unchanged.

The NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 39436.62 crore. The Nifty Futures continued to be at a premium of 11 points. It added 3 lakh shares in Open Interest. ACC, Bajaj Auto, Cipla, India Cement, Infosys, Reliance, TCS and Tata Steel were the top trades.

Bajaj Auto, TCS, Wipro, ONGC, Reliance were the top gainers on the indices.

Guj Ambuja Cements, Tata Steel, BHEL, Tata Power, ACC, HPCL, BPCL and Nalco were the top losers on the indices.

The BSE IT Index outperformed the other indices. It closed at 4,284.92, up 3.77 per cent or 155.70 points amid buying in Wipro, TCS, Satyam, HCL Tech, Infosys, Moser Baer and Patni Computer.

Oil stocks like ONGC, Reliance, Petronet LNG, Gail and MRPL also surged. The BSE Oil & Gas Index closed up 163.66 points or 3.22 per cent at 5,244.34.

Auto stocks including Bajaj Auto, Sundaram-Clayton, Amtek Auto, Hero Honda, Ashok Leyland, Hind Motors and M&M also firmed up. The BSE Auto Index ended at 5,468.82, up 130.13 points or 2.44 per cent.

The BSE FMCG Index closed up 1.92 per cent at 2,241.68 as gains were seen in Dabur India, McDowell, Colgate, ITC, Tata Tea and HLL.

Capital goods stocks like Gammon India, Bharat Electronics, Aban LoydChiles, ABB, L&T, Alfa Laval, HEG and Siemens also moved up. The BSE Capital Goods Index closed at 8,560.17, up 158.33 points or 1.88 per cent.

Pharma stocks including GSK Pharma, Divis Labs, Sun Pharma, Lupin, Cipla, Novartis India, Dr Reddy's Labs and Nicholas Piramal also stirred up. The BSE Healthcare Index ended up 1.72 per cent at 3,937.65.

The BSE Bankex ended at 5,280.91, up 1.43 per cent. Banking stocks like UTI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Oriental Bank, PNB and Bank of Baroda also made gains.

Consumer durables stocks including Titan Industries, Whirlpool, Su-Raj Diamonds and Blue Star also ended higher.

However, the BSE Metal Index closed down 0.21 per cent at 9,797.02.
