Elvish Yadav, a popular YouTuber and singer from Gurugram, was arrested by the Noida Police on Sunday for their inquiry into the suspected use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a party. He gained fame after winning the Big Boss OTT 2 reality show hosted by Salman Khan in 2023.
Who is Elvish Yadav: Elvish Yadav is a YouTuber and singer from Gurugram. Yadav began his YouTube career on April 29, 2016. He has amassed a large following and views on his primary channel. That apart, he launched a vlog channel in November 2019 and a gaming channel in May 2023.
Claim To Fame: While his controversial videos raked in millions of views, it was Bigg Boss OTT 2 that made him a household name. Elvish emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss OTT 2 in August 2023. He created history by becoming the first wildcard contestant to have won the show ever. Later, he also went on to do a stint on reality show Temptation Island India.
What’s his social media following: As of March 2024, he has a following of 7.82 million subscribers on his vlog channel and 15 million followers on his primary YouTube channel. On Instagram, he boasts if 16.2 million followers.
Shows he has participated in: He participated in Bigg Boss OTT 2 that he went on to win. That apart, he was also seen in gaming show Playground and dating reality show Temptation Island. He has also been a part of music videos such as Bad Guy, Systumm, Punja Daab, Rao Sahab, Hum Toh Deewane, Meter Khench Ke, Love Kataria and most recently, Bolero.
Controversies: Recently, YouTuber Sagar Thakur aka Maxtern has levelled serious allegations against Yadav. Recently, Maxtern took to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle and accused Elvish Yadav of threatening him.
During Bigg Boss OTT 2, his fans allegedly threatened Salman Khan. To this, he had said, “I have no idea that my fans threatened Salman bhai. If they have done it, it is wrong. If my fans are doing this in my name, I don’t like it. No one should get threats in my name.”
Elvish was also accused of mistreating a journalist and grabbing his mic when asked about his visit to Vaishno Devi temple. He also mistreated another person who requested a photo, grabbing his friend’s shoulder.
His involvement in the snake venom case: Elvish has been arrested by Noida Police in a snake poisoning case. The case was lodged under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code. He has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. This comes months after an FIR was filed against the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner late last year after his name came up in a rave party where snakes and venom were allegedly found. Later, politician and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi accused the YouTuber of supplying snake venom to rave parties in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Elvish was stopped at a checkpost in Rajasthan’s Kota in connection to the case but was released later.
