Urvashi Rautela recently revealed that she was asked to step down as the winner of Miss Universe in 2012 by Sushmita Sen as she did not reach the age limit. Urvashi said that while the age limit was 18, she was unaware of this criteria and won when she was 17 years old.
Urvashi told Mirchi Plus, “When I won Miss Universe India for the first time in 2012, there is an age limit for Miss Universe… Our boss was Donald Trump. The age limit was 18, even I didn’t know that I was 17 after I won. I was 24 days short from the age limit,” At this time, Donald Trump co-owned the Miss Universe organisation. Sushmita Sen’s company was in charge of selecting the representatives as Femina Miss India had given up it’s exclusive rights.
Urvashi said, “Sushmita Sen told me that ‘Urvashi, you can’t go…’ At that point, I felt like the biggest loser of my life.” Urvashi added that while she questioned the age limit rule, her efforts were in vain. In 2015, when Miss Diva was in charge of selecting the Indian representative for Miss Universe, Urvashi again took part in the pageant.
However, when she went to give her audition, the other women present at the venue thought she was there as a judge due to her age. “All the girls there, they did not want me to participate. And I could actually feel that because there was this entire group and I was all alone,” she said. “People said who gives 10th standard exams after passing 12th standard exams? But I still did it, and I still won. I am the only girl who won Miss Universe India twice,” Urvashi shared.
Meanwhile, on the work front, actress Urvashi Rautela will soon be seen in a film titled JNU: Jahangir National University.
